In Memory of C.C. Bryant (1907-2007)
McComb Civil Rights legend Curtis Conway "C.C." Bryant passed away December 9, 2007. His granddaughter Judith Barlow-Roberts and her husband, Chris Roberts, put together a short video tribute to Mr. Bryant’s life, with footage from the memorial services held at Southwest Mississippi Community College on December 16 and at Society Hill Baptist Church on December 17.
Thanks to all who participated in the 2nd Annual Education Summit!
On June 21-23, 2006, the McComb School District and the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation co-hosted the second annual education summit on teaching civil rights history, called "McComb Legacies: Reclaiming Our Past for a Brighter Future, A Civil Rights Education Summit Honoring C.C. Bryant." The summit included workshops and group sessions, a driving tour of historic local Civil Rights sites, a reception and naming ceremony in honor of local Civil Rights leaders, and a graduation ceremony honoring those people who had been expelled from Burglund High School in 1961 during a student walk-out.
